dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between company policies, educational qualification and motivation of women in leadership positions in the telecommunication industry in Kenya using a case study of Safaricom Limited, coast region -technical division. The specific objectives of the study were: To evaluate the relationship between company policies and motivation of women in leadership positions in Telecommunication industry in Kenya; and to establish how educational qualifications relate with motivation of women in leadership positions in Telecommunication industry in Kenya. The study was anchored on Hierarchy of needs theory. A descriptive research design was adopted as individuals or other units were compared to each other. The target population of this study was comprised of 150 Safaricom coast region, Technical Division employees. Simple random sampling technique was used and the sampling frame comprised of a list of 50 representatives of the total 150 staff who work in the division. A questionnaire was used to collect data which was analyzed using Microsoft Excel. In conclusion company policies are very key in motivating more women to take up leadership roles unlike education background. Organizations should consider exploring opportunities to improve on the existing policies by incorporating gender enhancement aspects. It was recommended that the role of women in leadership be uphelden_US
