dc.description.abstractIn Kenya despite the fact that some firms particularly multinationals have the capacity to execute telecommuting few elaborate telecommuting programs are used within organizations many organizations go as far as offering flexible work programs. It's unknown how widespread teleworking has become because it's only practical for people who work full-time. The purpose of this study was to find out the factors affecting the adoption of teleworking in healthcare industry in Kenya using a case study of The Nairobi West Hospital Ltd. The specific objectives was to focus on effects of organizational culture and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) dynamics affecting the adoption of teleworking in the healthcare industry in Kenya. The researcher used the descriptive research design. The target population was 48 respondents from Nairobi West Hospital Ltd. The main data collection instrument was the questionnaires. Primary data was analyzed both qualitative and quantitatively and presented in graphs figures and tables. The findings revealed that 67% of the respondents were of the opinion that organizational culture affects the adoption of teleworking. A further 79% of the respondents felt that the use of and application of ICT contributed significantly to the slow adoption and success of teleworking. From the findings the researcher concluded that teleworking represents a unique advantage to the industry. The researcher recommends that there is need to develop a culture that promotes change and incorporate information and communications technology systems and create awareness to streamline teleworking activities.en_US
